Matt Smothers, a graduate of Vance Elementaary, has chosen to pursue one of the highest ranks in Boy Scouts. This is the rank of Eagle with Troop 10 at Holland’s United Methodist Church. One of the main requirements to achieve the rank of Eagle is to successfully plan and execute a service project that benefits the community. Matt's project has been to renovate the front courtyard of Vance Elementary School which includes a new patio with benches and a new tree. This area has been dedicated as “Panther Place” and will be used by the Vance Elementary School community. It has made Vance Elementary more inviting and has beautified this important focal point. To fund his project, Matt needs to raise approximately $3,000. If you are interested in contributing to the courtyard project, please contact the school.
